International Institute of Bio-Technology & Toxicology (IIBAT) serves as a link between Industry and Regulatory System in providing GLP based non-clinical health and environmental safety data on crop care/protection actives/formulations, biocides, chemicals for control of household nuisance pests and for control of pests of public health importance, industrial chemicals, herbal /phyto molecules, plant growth regulators, drugs and pharmaceuticals meant for use in clinical and veterinary medicine, transgenic crop/food, r-DNA, biopharmaceuticals and biotech based products, to facilitate risk assessment. Recent initiatives are focused on toxicity and hazard identification of engineered nano-materials of industrial and therapeutic application. IIBAT undertakes basic research in above areas, in collaboration with national and international scientific communities to train manpower, including providing opportunities for Doctoral studies, under the affiliation of local universities. IIBAT functions with a no profit motive and provides employment to local communities through its various programmes.
